Best and Only Winter Jacket Needed

I’m glad I waited out on getting an RJ-2 because this is the best cold weather jacket I have ever worn and has everything I care for in it! With it being fully lined from the collar all the way into the sleeves means I can wear this jacket alone under a shirt into the 30s-40s and still be comfortable. The large, but not oversized, collar makes cold, windy days comfortable to be in and is comfortable to keep on the back of your neck when its cold out because of its lining. The ribbed cuffs are a perfect addition to keep the cold air out and warm air inside and don’t make the sleeves bunch up when reaching out or moving about. The zipper is nice, chunky, and feels like it can take the abuse throughout the years. It is a bit stiff and hard to start at times when new but with frequent use and technique can get easier over time. My only complaint and request would be to add an additional zipper pull at the bottom of the jacket to make it more comfortable to wear when sitting down outside or in your car. Since the waist is zipped shut once you pull the zipper up, the jacket bunches up and rides up on you once you sit down making the collar come right up to your chin. I feel being able to adjust and loosen the waist to accommodate your different use cases would be a major improvement. But even without that revision this jacket is still a 10/10! So long as its not raining, this is the only jacket I see myself needing and using once the temperature drops again!

Just as advertised!!

It's absolutely perfect!! I'm 5'10" 175 and ordered size M, fits like a glove. Made of high quality materials and it's classic Freenote style. The jacket is a bit stiff but as the description states, I'm sure it will become more flexible over time. The alpaca/wool mix isn't itching when wearing with a t-shirt. Love this bad boy!

This is what I called a jacket !

Third jacket form Freenote Cloth. Super strong. Super warm. Quality of the details is very fine. An everyday wear which will last. Thanks !

Mariner Heavy Jacket Delivers

This is my third jacket from Freenote Cloth and its the warmest by far. Like the others, the quality is high end and I have received multiple compliments when I put this on. Built to last for a very long time you'll be happy to add this jacket to warm coat collection. The medium fits perfect... I'm 5-9 180 LBS, 44 chest. The best part is that it's made in the USA!

Thanks for this awesome coat!

This is my new favorite Jacket. Sometimes staying warm can be tricky up here in Northern Utah. This jacket stands up well against the worst winter has throw at it thus far. You gotta spend your money somewhere, and supporting folks like these is as good a place as any. Thanks for keeping the soul in the goods you create!!

We are proud to re-introduce the Mariner Jacket. For this version, we decided to line the entirety of the jacket with our Alpaca/Wool blend lining. The body, collar, and sleeves are all lined to create one of the warmest jackets we’ve ever offered. We also made subtle updates and refinements to the pattern to create the best fitting Mariner jacket yet. The wool cuffs are new as well - custom made for Freenote in the USA. Taking full advantage of the fur collar, a hidden throatlatch was added to secure the collar when popped to fend off the harshest weather.

The Mariner is our interpretation of the quintessential WW2 deck jacket, the U.S. Navy N-1. The fabric is an ultra tightly woven Jungle Cloth (a.k.a Bedford cord), the same as the original fabric that was designed to protect U.S. Navy sailors from the elements. This fabric, like our denim, breaks in beautifully, and only gets better with age and wear. We opted for patch on pockets and raglan sleeves for a casual interpretation of a military inspired garment. The finishing touches include custom leather labels, Italian made real horn buttons, and heavy-duty Universal zippers that are made in Japan and typically reserved for heavier leather pieces. These features combine to create a timeless, classic jacket that is at once familiar and unique.
