The Rocking and Rugged Riders Jacket Waxed Canvas/Tumbleweed - Medium

This excellent and timeless jacket will stand the test of time. It is so well made with handcrafted construction and the finest materials. The jacket always receives compliments. The color is light neutral and goes with everything. I am 5'7," 170 lbs, 32" waist, 40 short jacket, modest athletic build, and a 60-year-old male. The medium fits perfectly and allows for layering with a medium-weight shirt or sweater - true to size. It also works well with a T-shirt. The lining provides warmth and comfort. I live in NYC, and this makes for a stylish, three-season jacket. Well worth the money spent. Cheers to the Feenote Cloth team. They provide excellent customer service and a great product. It rocks!

Tumbleweed Riders Jacket

I have been a Filson man for 40 years. Closet of various wax jackets (also Barbour and Bestaff). The Riders Jacket is superior in every way to the current foreign-made Filsons. Sorry to say. Beautifully made, rugged, great buttons. It will be my new go-to. For sizing, I am 5’10 190, very athletic build. 42 Reg in a business suit and 34” sleeve in a dress shirt. I bought Large. It fits like it was made for me. If you have broad shoulders, I suggest you size up. Medium would have been way too small. It will fit a vest underneath, but not a bulky sweater. Definitely will be back for more.

Tumbleweed RJ1

This is my first Freenote Cloth Riders Jacket. I originally came across the jacket as I was in the market for a rugged waxed jacket. I was initially interested in RT waxed supply jacket but heard that it was quite slim fitting. For reference, I am 5'9 and 180lbs with a 40" chest and an athletic build. I originally ordered the medium and when I tried it on I thought it was slimmer than what I wanted. I called up and spoke with Drew and talked through sizing. He advised that the medium should stretch out and conform to my body. I wanted to size up to a large to see how I felt before I made a final decision. The only time the large fit 'well' was when I layered a heavy sweatshirt or something thick underneath. Wearing just a plain t-shirt the large was too big. I went back with the medium and can say that it is the 'better' fit for me and in time I expect it to break in nicely. Overall amazing customer service and really appreciate the fast shipping and accommodations for helping me get the sizing right! Would buy from again!

Tumbleweed / Tobacco RJ1 is awesome!!!

This is my second Freenote Cloth Riders jacket (first being the Oak color way which I bought last year).

I wanted a lighter color and when the Tumbleweed was announced on IG about a month ago, I pounced and got in the cue. I’m sure glad I did.

Same quality as you’ve come to expect in a beautiful light tan/taupe color. Hard to describe, but it’s just awesome.

Things I love about the Jacket:

The fit, I wear an XL. I’m 6’1, 180 lbs soaking wet with a 42” chest. I like to layer under these jackets and I find the XL to be just perfect for wearing a thick sweater or sweatshirt. That said I can wear a tee shirt with it, and it doesn’t look sloppy big. I could probably size down to a Large if I didn’t want to layer.

The details: the lining is supremely comfortable and I love that they use satin lined sleeves. So easy to slip into this with a sweater.

The rivets on the cuffs, and front placket. Subtle, and nicely contrasting with the canvas. Same can be said for the buttons.

The gussets, yes folks they really are THAT good!

I’d encourage anyone who is on the fence to nab one of these beauties while they are in stock. I never thought I’d say this, but I can’t wait for the cooler weather!

Well done Freenote!

American craftsmanship at its finest

Received my jacket this week and I'm extremely impressed by the fit and construction of the jacket. Most waxed canvas jackets I've encountered are made for thinly built individuals. I'm more in the corn-fed mountain boy/farm fit category and have big shoulders. This jacket has ample room to allow me to actually move and work in it. The details of the construction easily correlate to dedicated American hands creating this functional piece of art. Hopefully with great people like those at Freenote we see a resurgence of American made goods, unlike once greats such as Filson who now outsource their canvas jackets.

The Riders Jacket, or RJ-1 for short, was one of the first jackets we ever designed. It is a unique mix of a classic ranch jacket combined with a riding jacket. The front pleats expand with movement along with the shoulder gussets in the back. Construction highlights include 1/8” stitch details and custom metal hardware made exclusively for Freenote Cloth. The RJ-1 is equipped with our signature action back for added mobility. Hidden elastic bands in the interior of the jacket help keep the shoulder gussets in place and allow for ease of movement in this heavy piece. In addition, the sleeves are lined with a cotton/rayon blend to make the jacket easier to put on and take off.

We built this jacket for the long haul using the most resilient materials and durable construction methods. With each wear, it will get more comfortable as it molds to your body, creating a custom fit. It will develop a unique patina as the wax is displaced in high wear areas, a sartorial chronicle of the adventures you’ll have in it. Like everything we make at Freenote Cloth, the Riders Jacket is built to last.
