    Buy it!

Great jacket, needs a little bit of break in but after a few weeks it fits like a glove. Really nice quality, you´ll love it. Size up if you are unsure. I´m 183 cm (6 ft.) and 90 kg, fairly athletic build, I use XL, L was way too tight over the shoulders and a bit too short, I have a long torso.

I wish only for one thing and that is that there would be a way to snap shut the collar when it´s up to prevent cold to get in at the neck.

    Perfection!!

Everyone knows this jacket is the business! My take on it is this…

I had an earlier version on this jacket in size medium. The one without the lined pockets and quilted sleeves. I thought that jacket was damn fine! Problem was it was a bit too tight. Great in a t shirt but I couldn’t layer in it. Decided to upgrade.

The newer versions are cut a bit more roomy. I tried the medium in the new version and am floored by how much nicer the new version is!! The 2mm longer shearling is much softer and feels warmer. The quilted sleeves are huge!! My arms would get cold in the older version. The lined pockets are un describable. Half fur, half satin. Pure pocket pleasure!!

I don’t know how these fellas did it, but I can wear this jacket over a tee, heavy flannel, or wool sweater and it never looks bulky. Somehow maintains an incredible profile.

This jacket will be with me for life!!

    Is my review even needed??

I'm not sure I can add much more about this masterpiece that hasn't already been noted here! I'll tell you this. I've lived through more midwestern winters than I care to admit, mostly in Chicago. It's been a warm (ish) December and this is the first year I have been waiting for it too get colder so I can put this thing to the test! So far, I absolutely love it. The following reviews are all accurate and no BS. It's amazing and I feel extremely fortunate to be able to own one and to have found a company like this. It's my fifth Freenote jacket, so...
Also, Andrew and the customer service here is second to none. Really, just a great experience every time (also from their retail partners). This is an investment in quality and USA made attention to detail. It's how it's done. Thanks Freenote.

    Fantastic Jacket

I was hesitant to spend this amount on a jacket but after talking with Andrew (co-owner) I decided to give it a try. I’m 5-9 and 150-lbs and the small fits nicely. The jacket is immaculately crafted. The shearling lined pockets are a superb touch and a definite bonus on cold days. The denim is beautiful. First time I wore the jacket I got several compliments which is a nice feeling. I would highly recommend!

Solid! Built to last! I am a smaller framed guy 5' 9" tall and 153 lbs and was concerned that the shearing would make the jacket uncomfortably bulky. There is a functional balance. I live in a winter climate Alberta, Canada and the shearing lined welt pockets are a big plus. A big thumbs up to Drew for his assistance with the purchase.

I also agree with Ned who also submitted a review. Per his review, "I could recommend two minor improvements to make future iterations even more awesome. 1) Add snap buttons half-way up the cuff opening so it can be closed up more securely to prevent any cold air from entering through the slit. 2) Add leather pull tabs to the zippers to make them easier to grasp with gloved hands or cold fingers.

Looking for a heavyweight jacket that is built to last for the winter seasons ahead? You’ve found it. The RJ-2 is lined with hand selected, genuine shearling. The exterior is a rugged 20 ounce raw selvedge denim woven by Kuroki Mills in Japan. The sleeves are lined with custom made quilted satin lining. Leaving no detail to chance, we even special ordered heavy-duty reproduction zippers from Universal Zippers Japan. This jacket is the warmest jacket we have ever produced. It is designed to handle the harshest winters, and built to last a lifetime.

When creating the RJ-2, we wanted it to be as comfortable as it is durable. For ease of movement, bi-swing gussets were added to the arm openings. Our signature action back, which was first developed for the Riders Jacket, was added as well. Hidden elastic bands underneath the lining keep the gussets in place and provide comfort for this heavy piece. The RJ-2 is designed to handle the harshest winters, and built to last a lifetime.
