About the Riders Jacket Waxed Canvas Tobacco Brown Interior

The Riders Jacket, or RJ-1 for short, was one of the first jackets we ever designed. It is a unique mix of a classic ranch jacket combined with a riding jacket. The front pleats expand with movement along with the shoulder gussets in the back. Construction highlights include 1/8” stitch details and custom metal hardware made exclusively for Freenote Cloth.

The RJ-1 is equipped with our signature action back for added mobility. Hidden elastic bands in the interior of the jacket help keep the shoulder gussets in place and allow for ease of movement in this heavy piece. In addition, the sleeves are lined with a cotton/rayon blend to make the jacket easier to put on and take off.

Purchased this jacket after seeing some good reviews (shout-out to Iron Snail). The jacket looks incredible and must be one of the best looking wax canvas jackets on the market. It was difficult finding somewhere in the uk that stocked it, but managed to pick one up after some digging.
I first tried the medium which looked great (179cm (H) 73kg with 38” chest) but was limited to only wearing with a T-shirt or light shirt, as it’s a fitted cut. I ended up going for a large to give me more room to layer in the spring and autumn. It didn’t look quite as good in the large but will ultimately be more utilitarian. So if you want to pick this up as a fashion jacket then go true to size but if you want to layer for colder weather, consider sizing up one size. This is now one of my most cherished jackets and will be handed down to my son some day.

Outstanding jacket & service

I ordered this jacket in Medium based on the provided measurement guide, but found it a bit snug across the shoulders since I'm fairly built in that area. I exchanged it for a Large, and the fit is now absolutely perfect.

This jacket is outstanding—it's sophisticated and even better looking in person than in the photos online. The 10-ounce Martexin waxed canvas feels premium and durable, and the front pleat detailing gives it an elevated style. The Southwestern printed liner from Japan adds a unique touch, while the satin-lined sleeves provide comfort and ease when putting it on.

Customer service was excellent handling the exchange, too. Top quality company and product.

High Quality

Did my research before purchasing my first wax canvas jacket and Freenote makes one of the best US- Made by far. This high end manufacturing. Would suggest to size up. I’m 5’9” ~ 175-180lbs and purchased the medium and it was entirely too tight for me. I’d say if you have any type of upper body development in the chest and shoulders then get the size Large.

Amazing all around jacket. Weather resistant with a nice liner. Order a size up if you want some room to layer for warmth.
