I'm 6'2", 190 lbs, with a lean build, athletic build.

I initially purchased the size 33 Portolas in 14.5 oz Kiahara denim. The waist fit perfectly, and the overall cut was excellent for a clean, tailored look. However, I noticed the top block felt slightly too tight when sitting or climbing stairs, leading to some discomfort, particularly around the crotch area. While I considered sizing up, I decided against it because the waist on the 33s was spot-on, and a larger size likely would have been too loose.

After some research, I opted for the Belfords, which are advertised as having a roomier top block. From the moment I tried them on, it was clear this cut was much better suited to my build. They maintain a sharp, tailored fit while offering more space in the hips and quads, eliminating the tightness I experienced with the Portolas. The leg opening is noticeably larger, but that’s expected with this style and doesn’t detract from the overall look.

The denim itself is outstanding. The dark indigo with a beige weft adds a beautiful vintage character, and it’s noticeably softer and more pliable compared to the Portolas. This softness enhances the overall comfort, making the Belfords an easy choice for all-day wear.

Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. If you’re considering the Portolas but have a similar build and prefer more comfort in the top block, I highly recommend giving the Belfords a try—they strike the perfect balance between style and practicality.
