We are proud to re-introduce the Mariner Jacket. For this version, we decided to line the entirety of the jacket with our Alpaca/Wool blend lining. The body, collar, and sleeves are all lined to create one of the warmest jackets we’ve ever offered. We also made subtle updates and refinements to the pattern to create the best fitting Mariner jacket yet. The wool cuffs are new as well - custom made for Freenote in the USA. Taking full advantage of the fur collar, a hidden throatlatch was added to secure the collar when popped to fend off the harshest weather.
The Mariner is our interpretation of the quintessential WW2 deck jacket, the U.S. Navy N-1. The fabric is an ultra tightly woven Jungle Cloth (a.k.a Bedford cord), the same as the original fabric that was designed to protect U.S. Navy sailors from the elements. This fabric, like our denim, breaks in beautifully, and only gets better with age and wear. We opted for patch on pockets and raglan sleeves for a casual interpretation of a military inspired garment. The finishing touches include custom leather labels, Italian made real horn buttons, and heavy-duty Universal zippers that are made in Japan and typically reserved for heavier leather pieces. These features combine to create a timeless, classic jacket that is at once familiar and unique.
