Modesto Jacket 11 Ounce Memphis Blue

Introducing our newest lightweight jacket, the Modesto Western style chore coat. The Modesto draws inspiration from what many sartorial historians agree was America’s first denim jacket, the 91J “Loco” jacket. The nickname Loco was earned through this jacket’s massive popularity with railroad workers. The loose and boxy fit facilitates air flow in warm weather and accommodates easy layering as temperatures drop. Contrast stitching, custom brass hardware from YKK, curved hip pockets, button closure chest pocket, and triple needle reinforced stitching throughout are some of the notable construction details. For the fabric, we selected our 11 ounce Memphis Blue, a period-correct lighter weight denim. These jackets are then washed to remove shrinkage, resulting in a soft hand feel from day one. The Modesto is one of our most detailed jackets to date not only in terms of construction, but also the numerous samples it took to achieve the perfect fit.
