About the Mooch Moto Jacket Maryam Tannery Black Magic Horsehide

Introducing the Black Magic Mooch Moto made of a custom horsehide leather from the esteemed Maryam Tannery in Italy.
Inspired by biker jackets from the 1950s, we added a touch of western flare to it with a single point back yoke and accented the moto jacket with custom concho rivets.

Equipped with moleskin body liner, satin sleeve liner, elastic bands in the gussets for added mobility, Universal Zippers from Japan, and a beautiful shuttle loom main label made in the USA. The Mooch Moto is proudly cut and sewn in Los Angeles, California.

Another home run by Freenote...

As an owner of many of FC's excellent garments, it's no surprise that this offering is a win. But there's something extra special about this jacket in that the leather is a unique blend of stout and malleable and with a sheen level that strikes a beautiful balance between depth and impending patina. I can't wait to see how this ages, creases and moulds to the body over time. (I have little doubt that the other version of the Mooch is equally great but even in the short term here, the sleeves are starting to stack beautifully). Double rider biker jackets are simultaneously simple and complex because there are so many possibilities with respect to the proportions of its constituent parts. Body length and width, rivets, zippers, pockets, and epaulets can all change the look of a jacket like this dramatically between designs, but what FC has done here is to create an uncomplicated, traditional looking, asymmetrical biker jacket that has loads of character. The jacket's slightly western bent is truly subtle. I love the scalloped snap pocket, the muted rivets, and the prominent central zip. But it's the low profile epaulets that truly hit the mark. Overripe epaulets can overburden a jacket but not so with the Mooch. The fit is excellent if you are on the lean and perhaps more muscular side of the anatomical spectrum...and consistent within the FC outerwear lineup (they mange this regardless of the pile thickness of the various linings). While slim, the chest, shoulders and sleeves accommodate the consequences of consistent chin-ups and dips, but if your belly has extra girth you'll find the tapered body to the waist is not forgiving. Snug when zipped, effortlessly cropped when left open (as jackets like this should be worn, 90% of the time). I'm 5'9" and 180lbs and the 42 (Medium) is a spot-on fit. For reference, all of my other FC jackets and upper body garments are also sized Medium. Another very well-made thing by Freenote Cloth.
