About the Ortega Pant Brown Herringbone Dobby

Introducing our newest pant, the Ortega. Taking cues from the classic workwear pants that helped build America, we sought to create something that could stand up to the rigors of the job site, while remaining stylish, comfortable, and timeless. We designed the fit with a roomy rise, full seat, and ample thigh room for mobility and comfort, opting for a true straight-leg silhouette that doesn’t taper. Hardwearing construction features include reinforced double knees with debris cleanouts, reinforced back pockets, double hammer loops, 1/8” sewing details, and custom woven labels made in the USA. For the fabric, we sourced a raw 10 ounce herringbone from Japan. The pocket bags, back pocket reinforcements, and interior double knee reinforcements all feature indigo ticking, except on the white version, which features a tan herringbone reinforcement fabric.

Freenote's Fantastic Fabric and Fit

Across every Freenote product I've owned (some denim, shirts, and jackets), they have all been extraordinary in every aspect. These Ortega pants are no exception. I've sometimes been unsure about the styling of products from looking at the limited model photos, but I got the opportunity to try these on in person while visiting the store, which won me over. The fabric is a solid, mid-weight with beautiful herringbone texture and and a rich brown. I'm really interested to see how the indigo stripe fades. The hardware is excellent, the sewing is uniform and dense, and the pocket designs are intentional and functional. The labels harken back to union style, but with that characteristic Freenote touch.

However, the thing that Freenote seems to nail better than most other brands is the patterning and fit. I'm 6'2", 180lbs with a moderately athletic build and these fit perfectly in 32 (the size I wear in Portola, Belford, and Modesto denim too). There's a bit of room in the top block (with a great high rise), enough to be comfortable while still maintaining form, and they drape wonderfully in a straight leg cut.

Ultimately, I highly recommend these pants and recommend looking across Freenote's offerings.
